What is telehealth?

Telehealth is when a client meets with a provider located in another physical location though technological means. It is one of the most exciting innovations in therapy services in recent years because it means more people can get the care they need and deserve. It can be intimidating going to an office, sitting in a waiting room, avoiding eye contact with the client that just wrapped up and left the therapist's office, then sitting on the couch just after they did. For some people, it's not big deal; but for others, it is too big of a hurdle. There are a lot of other ways getting in to see a therapist is too hard - maybe crosstown traffic is awful, or the kids have soccer, karate, and gymnastics practices all week, or our sick parent requires our undivided attention each evening. The bottom line is we are busy and it often means we do not take the time to take care of ourselves.

Telehealth is a solution to just those kinds of problems. For whatever reason, you cannot make it into the office. That's okay. I use VSee - a secure telehealth application that is free for you and works on your computer, tablet, or mobile device. And it requires a low bandwidth connection. No matter where you are, you and I can talk and you will get the help you need and want on your schedule.
